Who will receive a vaccine?

Everyone in Australia will be offered a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine.

At first doses will be limited so high priority groups will get their vaccines first.

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) gave advice to the Government on prioritising groups for COVID-19 vaccination.

Check here to see when you are eligible for the vaccine.

Use the COVID-19 vaccine eligibility checker to find out when you can receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

INFORMATION ABOUT COVID-19

COVIDSafe app

The COVIDSafe app is a tool that helps notify people exposed to COVID-19 so the health system can protect you, your family and friends.  More information is available here.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness caused by a new virus. Symptoms range from a mild cough to pneumonia. Some people recover easily, others may get very sick very quickly. There is evidence that it spreads from person to person. Good hygiene can prevent infection.

For any travellers returning from overseas with flu like symptoms, please call us on 07 5537 3311 to book an appointment.

If you become unwell and think you may have symptoms of coronavirus, seek medical attention.

Call ahead of time to book an appointment. Tell your doctor about your symptoms, travel history and any recent close contact with someone who has coronavirus.

If you must leave home to see your doctor, wear a surgical mask (if you have one) to protect others.

If you have serious symptoms such as difficulty breathing, call 000 for urgent medical help.

Face Masks

Face masks can be a useful measure to help control sustained community transmission. At this time, we do not have sustained community transmission in Queensland.

Face masks alone will not protect you from COVID-19. Social distancing is the gold standard of COVID-19 prevention methods, coupled with washing your hands regularly.

We understand there are situations where you may not be able to maintain social distancing. Keep a mask with you, so that if you get into one of those situations, you have some added protection.

Find out more in our fact sheet about the use of  masks.

Everyone should practise good hygiene to protect against infections. Good hygiene includes:

  • washing your hands often with soap and water
  • using a tissue and cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze
  • avoiding close contact with others, such as touching

Read more about protective measures against coronavirus on the World Health Organization website.

If you have a confirmed case, you need to isolate yourself to prevent it spreading to other people.
